After pushing her way through a maze of red tape, Raya finally approved the creation of the Free Hunters of the Icy Frontier. But she laid down one uncompromising rule: only those who have personally claimed a shapeshifter's pelt would be accepted. Only then could a recruit be trusted to know the true dangers ahead.

Once an animancer is slain, its fur turns pitch-black, yet it can never be mistaken for that of an ordinary wolf! The skull's empty eyes burn with lingering rage, and fiery flares race across the hide.
