Ask any goblin, "What is Technopolis?" and he'll tell you, "The cradle of science! City of geniuses!" Ask him, "What's the outer perimeter?" and you'll hear, "Uh-oh. I'm sorry, but I've got to run!" How can just one word scare a goblin so much?

Slipping past the guards behind the impregnable walls of the city, the traveler will find the answer to his question. The outer perimeter... This chemical-poisoned zone, where acid lakes and monstrous dumpsites have become home to those who have failed to make it in the City of Genius.

Living in this hellhole has turned former clerks into half-crazed raiders, the survivability of which is the envy of cockroaches. Like vultures, they prowl around endlessly among the broken-down machinery and scraps, looking for any tool, any screw that will get them through the next day. The exiles remember why they are here, and wait patiently for the day when the walls of Technopolis will fall.
